Overview

What this migration involves

Moving from Amwork to Monday.com CRM is a structural migration that requires resolving a board-versus-card data model mismatch. Amwork stores CRM records as Cards inside customizable Pipelines; Monday.com CRM uses Items on Boards with Columns for field values. We map Amwork's Contact, Company, and Deal cards to Monday CRM Items with matching Column types, preserving pipeline stage assignments as Group labels. Amwork's time entries attach to Tasks and Projects rather than Contacts, so we migrate those as read-only sub-items on the associated Monday task board. Automation rules (BPMN-based workflows, email follow-up sequences) do not migrate because they are configuration objects tied to Amwork's workspace engine; we deliver a written inventory of every active rule for the customer's admin to rebuild in Monday's native automation builder. Deal stage changes that require menu selection in Amwork will behave differently in Monday because Monday's board structure allows inline status updates by moving items between groups.

Why teams make this switch

Two sides of the same decision

Leaving

Amwork logo

Amwork

What's pushing teams away

  • The import process fails when the uploaded spreadsheet does not match Amwork's expected field structure exactly, causing leads and contacts to drop silently during migration.
  • The sidebar lacks an expanded view mode, forcing users to hover repeatedly to see context, which creates friction during high-volume data entry sessions.
  • Drag-and-drop between deal pipeline stages is not supported — moving a record between stages requires opening a menu and selecting the destination, slowing down pipeline management.
  • Support is directed to WhatsApp rather than a built-in chat widget, which frustrates users expecting in-app ticket-based support for critical issues.

Choosing

monday CRM

What's pulling them in

  • Users praise the board-based visual interface for making pipeline stages immediately legible to non-technical team members without CRM training.
  • The no-code automation builder lets sales ops teams create lead routing, stage updates, and email triggers without developer involvement.
  • Integration ecosystem connects to Slack, Gmail, Outlook, and Zapier with minimal configuration, reducing friction for teams already using these tools.
  • The flexible column system lets teams build custom CRM views — deal value, close date, lead source — without needing a developer or pre-defined schema.
  • Teams already using monday Work Management can layer CRM features onto existing boards rather than starting from scratch.

Object mapping

How Amwork objects map to monday CRM

Each row shows how a Amwork object lands in monday CRM, including any object-level transformations, lookup resolution, or schema-design dependencies.

Typical mapping — final map is confirmed during the sample migration step.

Amwork

Contact

maps to

monday CRM

Contact Item

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork Contact records map to Monday CRM Contact Items. We map Amwork contact fields (name, email, phone, address, lifecycle stage, owner) to Monday CRM Column types: text for name and email, phone for telephone, date for lifecycle dates, and dropdown for owner assignment. Custom contact fields from Amwork map to Monday Columns of equivalent type (text, number, date, or dropdown). Contact-to-company links migrate as relationship Columns pointing to the linked Company Item.

Amwork

Company

maps to

monday CRM

Company Item

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork Company records map to Monday CRM Company Items. The company domain becomes the Website Column, industry maps to a dropdown Column, and address data maps to text Columns for city, state, and country. Linked Contacts from Amwork attach to the Company Item via Monday's relationship Column or a manual linking step depending on the customer's Monday CRM plan tier.

Amwork

Deal

maps to

monday CRM

Opportunity Item

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork Deal cards map to Monday CRM Items on a dedicated pipeline board. Each Amwork pipeline becomes a separate Monday board with Groups representing the pipeline stages. Deal value, close date, and custom deal fields migrate to Monday Columns of equivalent type. The deal owner migrates as the Item assignee. We create the Groups in Monday matching the Amwork pipeline stage names before deal import so no post-migration stage reassignment is required.

Amwork

Lead

maps to

monday CRM

Lead Item

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork Leads in the Deals and Leads section map to Monday CRM Items on a separate Lead board or a dedicated Group within the main CRM board. Lead status field maps to a Monday Column with status values matching the source statuses. If the destination Monday CRM plan does not include a separate Leads section, Leads migrate alongside Deals on the same board with a lead status Column distinguishing them from converted opportunities.

Amwork

Project

maps to

monday CRM

Project Board

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork Projects map to Monday boards. The project name becomes the board name, project description becomes the board description, and project status maps to a Column. Member assignments migrate as board subscribers. If Amwork project templates exist, we map them to Monday board templates and document the template mapping for the customer's admin to apply post-migration.

Amwork

Task

maps to

monday CRM

Task Item

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork Tasks inside Projects map to Monday Items on the corresponding Project board. Assignee, due date, priority, and checklist sub-items migrate to Monday Columns and sub-items. Parent-child task hierarchies preserve as sub-items or dependency links depending on the customer's Monday plan. Task status maps to a Column matching the source task status values.

Amwork

Custom Field

maps to

monday CRM

Column

lossy
Fully supported

Amwork custom fields on Contacts, Companies, Deals, and Tasks map to Monday Columns of matching type. Text custom fields become text Columns, number fields become number Columns, date fields become date Columns, and choice-type fields become dropdown Columns. We create the destination Columns on the appropriate Monday boards before data migration begins, ensuring all Column IDs are available for mapping during the import phase.

Amwork

Time Entry

maps to

monday CRM

Time Sub-item or Note

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork time entries attach to Tasks and Projects, not directly to Contacts. We migrate time entries as read-only sub-items on the associated Monday Task Item, preserving entry duration, date, description, and billable flag as sub-item Columns. For projects that do not have a direct Monday board equivalent, time entries migrate as Note records attached to the relevant Item. This preserves the data but requires the customer to adjust their time-logging workflow post-migration since time cannot be logged directly against Contact or Company Items in Monday CRM.

Amwork

User

maps to

monday CRM

User

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork User records (name, email, role, active status) map to Monday User accounts. Owner assignments on Deals, Tasks, and Projects migrate by resolving Amwork user email to the Monday User account. Any Amwork user without a matching Monday User account is flagged in a reconciliation report for the customer's admin to provision before the final migration phase.

Amwork

Attachment

maps to

monday CRM

File Link

1:1
Fully supported

Amwork file attachments on Tasks and Deals migrate as hosted file links attached to the corresponding Monday Item via a URL Column or a linked file integration. Large attachment batches (over 1,000 files) may require chunked migration to stay within Monday API throughput limits. We document the full list of attachments and their target Items for the customer to host or re-link post-migration.

Pair-specific challenges

  • Monday CRM lacks native email scheduling within the CRM

Monday.com CRM does not support scheduling emails directly from within the CRM interface or from Monday CRM Items. Teams that rely on Amwork's built-in email follow-up sequences for sales outreach will need to evaluate Monday's native email actions (limited to sending at the moment of trigger) or a third-party sales engagement tool integrated with Monday. We document every Amwork email automation and its current trigger conditions for the customer to evaluate against Monday's native capabilities or a recommended third-party replacement.

  • Time entries cannot attach directly to Contacts or Companies in Monday CRM

Amwork time entries log against Tasks and Projects, not directly against Contact or Company records. Monday CRM similarly does not support time logging directly against Contact or Company Items. We migrate Amwork time entries as read-only sub-items on the associated Task Item, preserving duration, date, description, and billable flag. This means the customer's sales team will need to adjust time-logging workflows post-migration since time tracking against client records requires a different process in Monday than in Amwork.

  • No native repeating tasks in Monday CRM

Monday.com CRM does not include built-in repeating task functionality as a native feature. Teams that use recurring task patterns in Amwork will need to evaluate Monday's automation builder to create recurrence logic (for example, a date-based automation that duplicates a task on a schedule) or a third-party integration. We flag every recurring task pattern in Amwork during discovery and document the recommended automation approach for the customer's admin to implement post-migration.

  • Automation rules and BPMN workflows do not migrate

Amwork's BPMN automation engine and email follow-up sequences are configuration objects tied to the Amwork workspace model. Monday.com's native automation builder uses a different trigger-action recipe model that is not compatible with Amwork's BPMN definitions. We do not migrate automation rules as code. We deliver a written inventory of every active Amwork automation with its trigger, conditions, and actions, along with a recommended Monday automation equivalent. The customer's admin rebuilds the automations post-migration. This is the most significant workflow discontinuity in the migration and requires explicit planning during discovery.

  • Monday CRM Mobile lacks dedicated CRM board experience

Monday.com CRM on mobile does not provide the same dedicated CRM board experience as the desktop interface. Boards migrated from Amwork's CRM modules behave like regular Monday boards on mobile rather than native CRM boards, which may limit the mobile experience for sales reps who rely on mobile CRM access. We document this limitation during scoping so that teams with high mobile CRM usage can plan accordingly or evaluate Monday's mobile capabilities before committing to the migration.

Migration approach

Six steps for a successful Amwork to monday CRM data migration

  1. Discovery and board structure design

We audit the Amwork workspace across contacts, companies, deals (with pipeline and stage assignments), leads, projects, tasks, custom field definitions, and time entry volume. We map each Amwork pipeline to a Monday board with Groups representing pipeline stages, confirm the Column types required for every Amwork custom field, and identify the time entry attachment points. The discovery output is a written migration scope with board structure diagrams, Column definitions, and a reconciliation report of any Amwork fields without a Monday CRM equivalent.

  2. Schema creation in Monday CRM

We create the destination board structure in Monday CRM before any data migration. This includes provisioning CRM boards for Contacts and Companies, pipeline boards for Deals with Groups matching the Amwork pipeline stages, and Project boards for task hierarchies. We create all required Columns with correct types (text, number, date, dropdown, formula, link) to match the Amwork custom field definitions. Column IDs are documented for use during the import phase.

  3. Data cleansing and deduplication

We extract data from Amwork and run a deduplication pass on Contacts and Companies using email address as the primary dedupe key. Duplicate records within Amwork are flagged in a cleansing report for the customer's admin to resolve before migration. Incomplete records with missing required fields (email on Contact, name on Company) are flagged with correction instructions rather than migrated as-is.

  4. Staging migration and reconciliation

We run a full migration into a Monday CRM staging workspace using production-like data volume. The customer reconciles record counts (Contacts in, Companies in, Deals in, Leads in, Tasks in), spot-checks 20-30 random Items against the Amwork source, and validates Column data types on the migrated Items. Any Column mapping corrections, missing Groups, or incorrect stage assignments are resolved here before production migration begins.

  5. Production migration in dependency order

We run production migration in record-dependency order: Contact and Company Items first (establishing the CRM foundation), then Deals and Leads (with pipeline Groups and stage assignments pre-created), then Projects and Tasks (with parent-child hierarchies preserved). Time entries migrate last as sub-items or Notes attached to the relevant Task Items. Each phase emits a row-count reconciliation report before the next phase begins. Amwork writes are frozen during the migration window to prevent delta records from being missed.

  6. Cutover, validation, and automation inventory handoff

We enable Monday CRM as the system of record after final validation. We deliver the automation inventory document listing every Amwork BPMN workflow and email sequence with trigger conditions, actions, and recommended Monday automation equivalents. We support a three-day hypercare window for reconciliation issues. We do not rebuild Amwork automations as Monday automations inside the migration scope; that work is a separate engagement for the customer's Monday-certified admin.

Strengths

  • All-in-one CRM, telephony, and automation under a single subscription
  • Built-in time tracking with Lexoffice accounting integration
  • Customizable sales pipelines and card-based record layouts
  • BPMN automation engine for workflow sequences
  • Workspace builder approach keeps CRM and project tasks in one environment

Weaknesses

  • Import requires exact field matching or records are silently dropped

  • No direct time-tracking attachment to contacts or companies
  • Mobile interface is limited compared to desktop feature set
  • Support routed through WhatsApp rather than in-app ticketing

Destination

Strengths

  • Board-based UI makes pipeline stages and deal progress visually obvious without training.
  • No-code automation builder requires no developer resources to create lead routing and stage-triggered actions.
  • Flexible column system supports custom CRM fields without schema changes or admin involvement.
  • Integrates natively with Slack, Gmail, Outlook, and Zapier with minimal configuration overhead.
  • Layered product means teams already on monday Work Management can add CRM without migrating existing data.

Weaknesses

  • No native Contacts object separate from Items — contacts are managed inside a CRM module's People feature.
  • Pipeline and deal relationships use a flat item model rather than a relational object model, making complex CRM associations awkward.
  • Automations are plan-gated (250 actions/month on Standard, 25,000 on Pro) and the legacy Recipe system is being deprecated.
  • Customization and advanced views (Chart, Formula, Dependency) are locked behind Pro and Enterprise tiers.
  • Per-seat pricing with non-refundable annual billing creates cost lock-in risk during migration.

Most migrations land between two and four weeks for accounts under 5,000 Contacts, 2,000 Deals, and a single Amwork workspace. Migrations with multiple pipelines, high time entry volume (over 10,000 entries), complex custom field schemas, or cross-workspace data spanning multiple Amwork workspaces move to four to six weeks because of Column type resolution, Group creation, and task sub-item construction.
