In its favor

Why people choose Accruent Vx Field

The signal that keeps Accruent Vx Field on the shortlist. Sourced from G2, Capterra, and customer scoping calls.

Organizations with multi-site field operations choose Vx Field for its ability to schedule and dispatch hundreds of daily work orders across distributed technician workforces with real-time route optimization.

Customers managing both internal technicians and external contractors use Vx Field because contractor access is available at no additional cost per seat, simplifying mixed workforces.

Facility-heavy organizations select Vx Field for its tight integration between Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) workflows and field service dispatch, keeping asset data consistent across both contexts.

Vx Field is chosen by organizations already using other Accruent products (EMS, Maintenance Connection) because the Accruent platform unifies workplace, facilities, and asset data under a single vendor contract.

Enterprises managing regulated environments value Vx Field because its asset attribute system supports assigning critical attributes (categories, types, manufacturers) from a single configuration page, making compliance records auditable.

Pricing is entirely opaque with no published tiers or public quotes, forcing customers into lengthy enterprise sales cycles and creating renewal leverage against the vendor.

Implementation requires significant professional services investment from Accruent or certified partners, adding 30-50% to total cost of ownership beyond software licensing.

Integration with non-Accruent ERPs or accounting systems is effort-intensive, as the REST API lacks comprehensive bulk export endpoints and documentation is fragmented across product lines.

The platform's web UI is considered complex for dispatch supervisors transitioning from simpler mobile-first tools, with a steeper learning curve for scheduling and optimization workflows.

Customers report that the asset hierarchy and position category structures require manual reconfiguration when organizational restructuring occurs, as there is no bulk repositioning capability.

Platform scorecard

Strengths, weaknesses, and where Accruent Vx Field fits

Grades across six dimensions, plus a SWOT-style view of where the platform shines and where it falls short.

SWOT — strengths, weaknesses, and use-case fit

Strengths

Unifies CAFM and FSM in a single platform, keeping asset data consistent across facility management and field service contextsContractor access is included at no per-seat cost, simplifying mixed internal/external workforce managementHierarchical asset attribute system (category, subcategory, type, manufacturer) supports detailed compliance and maintenance recordsReal-time dispatch optimization adapts continuously as conditions change, reducing travel time and idle timeMulti-site support with per-site work order tracking and asset management at regional or global scale

Weaknesses

No public pricing or tier documentation; every deployment is a custom enterprise quoteImplementation requires significant professional services investment from Accruent or certified partnersREST API documentation is fragmented and not publicly comprehensive; bulk data extraction is not well documentedDashboard configurations, custom reports, and position category taxonomies cannot be exported and must be rebuilt at the destinationIntegration complexity increases substantially when the destination ERP or HCM is not an Accruent product

Where it works

Large enterprises operating hundreds to thousands of daily field work orders across multiple geographically distributed sites requiring real-time dispatch optimization.Organizations managing mixed workforces of internal technicians and external contractors where contractor seat costs must be avoided.Facility-heavy industries like manufacturing, utilities, and healthcare where Computer-Aided Facility Management and field service must share consistent asset data.Companies already invested in the Accruent ecosystem (EMS, Maintenance Connection, vx Maintain) seeking unified workplace and asset data under one vendor contract.Enterprises in regulated environments requiring auditable compliance records with structured asset attribute hierarchies for category, type, and manufacturer tracking.

Where it struggles

Small to mid-market organizations seeking transparent, predictable pricing without engaging in lengthy enterprise sales cycles or opaque renewal negotiations.Companies needing rapid deployment or transitioning from lightweight mobile-first scheduling tools, where the web UI complexity creates significant learning curves.Organizations with frequently changing organizational structures that require bulk repositioning of assets, positions, or site hierarchies, as manual reconfiguration is required.Businesses relying on non-Accruent ERP or accounting systems, where REST API limitations and fragmented documentation make data integration effort-intensive.Companies requiring comprehensive public API documentation and self-service bulk export capabilities for data extraction or migration projects.

Accruent Vx Field pricing overview

Accruent Vx Field uses fully opaque custom enterprise pricing with no public tier structure. Contracts are negotiated individually, typically as annual agreements with per-user and per-site components. What gets migrated

Accruent Vx Field object support

Object-by-object support for Accruent Vx Field migrations. Per-pair details surface during scoping.

Work Orders

Fully supported

Work Orders are the primary transaction object in Vx Field. They carry status, priority, assignment, location, and scheduling data. We extract full work order histories including all status transitions and associate them with the originating Asset and Site. Standard CSV or API-based export captures the complete lifecycle from creation to closure.

Assets

Fully supported

Assets represent equipment, infrastructure, and physical items tracked across Sites. Vx Field supports hierarchical asset structures with attributes (category, subcategory, type, manufacturer) assigned from a single page in the 2023.12 release. We preserve the full attribute chain and parent-child relationships during migration.

Technicians (Users)

Mapping required

Technicians are the mobile workforce records. Vx Field uses Position Categories and subCategories to classify technician roles (e.g., Engineer/Industrial or Marketing/Communications Director). We map Position Category assignments as a custom property on the destination User record, since destination CRMs do not typically have a native 2-tier position classification model.

Sites (Locations)

Fully supported

Sites serve as the location hierarchy and act as the parent container for Assets and Work Orders. We preserve Site-to-Asset and Site-to-Work-Order relationships explicitly during migration to ensure the destination structure mirrors the source location topology.

Inventory and Parts

Mapping required

Vx Field tracks parts stock across warehouses and mobile van inventories, with replenishment triggers tied to Work Order consumption. We export current stock levels, reorder points, and parts-to-work-order allocation records. Some ERP-centric inventory quantities may live in the linked accounting system and require cross-system reconciliation before import.

Schedule and Dispatch Records

Mapping required

Scheduling and dispatch data includes technician assignments, time windows, and route data. Vx Field's real-time optimization continuously adapts dispatch plans. We capture the most recent finalized dispatch snapshot at migration time, but the continuous optimization state does not export cleanly and must be rebuilt as a baseline configuration in the destination system.

Position Categories and SubCategories

Mapping required

Position Categories are a 2-tier classification system for technician roles used to build Position Standards. This is an Accruent-specific construct not found in most destination platforms. We extract the full taxonomy and store it as a custom lookup table in the destination system rather than as native role data.

Contractors

Mapping required

Vx Field grants external contractors mobile access at no additional per-seat cost. Contractor records are mixed with internal technician records in the user table. We separate contractor accounts by identifying records with external organization flags and map them to the destination system's vendor or contact model.

Preventive Maintenance (PPM) Records

Mapping required

Preventive and planned maintenance records define recurring schedules tied to Assets and Sites. The 2023.12 release introduced PPM Builder with bulk update capabilities. We export PPM schedules, trigger frequencies, and associated asset/site assignments, but recurring schedule rules may require translation to the destination's scheduling engine.

Documents and Attachments

Not in this platform

Work Order and Asset documents are stored as attachments within Vx Field's document management system. We do not migrate binary document blobs directly. Instead, we extract document metadata (filename, type, associated object, upload date) and provide a mapping table so the customer can re-associate files from their document store post-migration.

Dashboard Tiles and Reports

Not in this platform

Dashboard tiles are configurable KPI views shared between users in the mobile dashboard. Custom report definitions are user-built within Vx Field. These are proprietary UI configurations with no standard export mechanism. We do not migrate them; they must be rebuilt in the destination system.
