Overview

What this migration involves

Moving from Wired Plus to Zoho CRM is a migration from a combined email marketing and CRM platform to a structured CRM with a separate campaign application. Wired Plus stores Contacts with email consent flags, custom fields, and deal stage data in a single record model; Zoho CRM uses a modular object hierarchy (Leads, Contacts, Accounts, Potentially Spurious Leads, Deals) with Blueprint process automation. We resolve Wired Plus contact schema including the account-specific custom field definitions before import, preserve the original opt_in status in a custom Zoho field to satisfy GDPR obligations, and map campaign performance metrics into Zoho Campaigns with manual rebuild guidance for any complex automation sequences. Landing pages, forms, and automation logic do not migrate as functional code; we deliver a written inventory of these elements for your admin to reference during Zoho configuration. Zoho CRM pricing ranges from free (3 users) to $52 per user per month at Ultimate, making the per-seat model more predictable than Wired Plus subscriber-count pricing for growing teams.

Why teams make this switch

Two sides of the same decision

Leaving

Wired Plus logo

Wired Plus

What's pushing teams away

  • Platform has not kept pace with AI-powered personalization and advanced analytics available in competing platforms
  • Limited third-party integrations beyond core email and CRM create data silos for businesses using complementary tools
  • Support responsiveness and platform stability have been cited as inconsistent by long-term users in community forums
  • Reporting depth insufficient for teams requiring granular attribution and multi-touch revenue reporting
  • Pricing tiers become restrictive as subscriber counts grow, pushing businesses toward flat-rate alternatives

Choosing

Zoho CRM logo

Zoho CRM

What's pulling them in

  • Free tier is genuinely usable for up to 3 users with leads, pipeline management, and email tracking — no credit card required, making it easy to evaluate before committing.
  • Pricing undercuts Salesforce by 80–90% at equivalent feature tiers, with Enterprise plans offering capabilities that cost 3–4× more on competing platforms.
  • Deep ecosystem of 45+ integrated apps (Books, Desk, Creator, Campaigns) means companies already in the Zoho suite get native integrations without third-party connectors.
  • Highly customizable: custom modules, custom fields, Canvas drag-and-drop layouts, and Blueprint workflow automation without requiring developer resources.
  • Small-business reviewers highlight real-time team visibility, daily time savings of 60–90 minutes, and the ability to mold the CRM to any industry vertical.

Object mapping

How Wired Plus objects map to Zoho CRM

Each row shows how a Wired Plus object lands in Zoho CRM, including any object-level transformations, lookup resolution, or schema-design dependencies.

Typical mapping — final map is confirmed during the sample migration step.

Wired Plus

Contact

maps to

Zoho CRM

Lead or Contact (split required)

1:many
Fully supported

Wired Plus Contact records do not distinguish between prospect and customer in a separate object hierarchy. We split contacts by the lifecycle stage or custom pipeline stage field: contacts in early funnel stages map to Zoho CRM Lead; contacts with a converted or active deal association map to Zoho CRM Contact linked to an Account. The original Wired Plus stage is preserved in a custom field wiredplus_original_stage__c on both Lead and Contact for audit continuity. Opt-in consent flags from the wiredplus opt_in and source fields are stored explicitly in Zoho CRM Lead/Contact to prevent GDPR violations at the destination.

Wired Plus

Company

maps to

Zoho CRM

Account

1:1
Fully supported

Wired Plus Company records map to Zoho CRM Account. Company_Name and domain fields map to Account Name and Website. We deduplicate on Company_ID where present in the Wired Plus export, or on domain match if the export does not include a stable company identifier. Account is inserted before any Contact import to satisfy the Zoho CRM Account-Contact lookup relationship.

Wired Plus

Deal

maps to

Zoho CRM

Potentially Spurious Leads

1:1
Fully supported

Wired Plus Deals map to Zoho CRM Potentially Spurious Leads with the StageName value set from the Wired Plus deal stage property. The Wirecustom deal fields migrate to custom Potentially Spurious Leads fields that we provision before import. Potentially Spurious Leads.Amount maps from the Wired Plus deal_value field. The Contact or Account lookup is resolved at migration time using the email match against the Contact or Account insert output.

Wired Plus

Pipeline Stages

maps to

Zoho CRM

Potentially Spurious Leads Stage

lossy
Mapping required

Wired Plus account-specific pipeline stages are extracted during scoping and mapped to Zoho CRM Potentially Spurious Leads stage picklist values. Stages with no direct Zoho equivalent are flagged and the customer chooses whether to map to the nearest stage or create a new custom stage value before migration begins. Stage probability percentages are stored as a reference document for post-migration configuration in Zoho Potentially Spurious Leads.

Wired Plus

Campaign

maps to

Zoho CRM

Campaign

1:1
Fully supported

Wired Plus Campaigns (email send history, open rates, click data) map to Zoho CRM Campaign. Campaign Name and Status migrate directly. Open rate, click rate, and send volume are stored in custom Campaign fields that we provision before import. Automated workflow trigger definitions from Wired Plus are exported as structured JSON and documented in the automation rebuild inventory rather than migrated as active Zoho Campaign workflow triggers.

Wired Plus

Automation Workflow

maps to

Zoho CRM

Workflow Rules and Blueprint (inventory only)

1:1
Fully supported

Wired Plus automation workflow definitions are exported as structured metadata including trigger events, conditional branches, and time delays. These are delivered as a written workflow audit log with Zoho Workflow Rule and Blueprint equivalents documented per item. Active workflow triggers, conditional logic, and delay values require manual reconfiguration in Zoho because the trigger event IDs and condition structures differ between platforms. We do not migrate automation logic as functional code.

Wired Plus

Custom Fields

maps to

Zoho CRM

Custom Fields

lossy
Mapping required

Wired Plus custom fields use account-specific labels in the export CSV rather than internal field IDs. We resolve field labels to internal identifiers during scoping by querying the Wired Plus API field schema. Each custom field is mapped to a Zoho CRM custom field of matching type (text, numeric, picklist, date, checkbox) that we provision before import. Labels that have changed since the last export are flagged during scoping for manual correction before migration.

Wired Plus

Tag

maps to

Zoho CRM

Tag

1:1
Fully supported

Wired Plus flat string tags applied to contacts and companies migrate to Zoho CRM Tag. We export all tag assignments per record and reapply them as Zoho Tag records linked via Tag-Record associations. If the destination Zoho edition does not include the Tag module, tags are stored as a multi-select picklist custom field on the respective module.

Wired Plus

Landing Page

maps to

Zoho CRM

(not migrated)

1:1
Fully supported

Wired Plus landing pages with HTML content and form configurations are exported as structured page metadata including asset URLs and form field definitions. We do not migrate landing page content to Zoho CRM because Zoho CRM does not include a native landing page builder. The export is delivered as a written page inventory for the customer's admin to reference when rebuilding in Zoho PageSense or a third-party landing page tool. Form field definitions are included to aid in form handler reconnection at the destination.

Wired Plus

Form

maps to

Zoho CRM

(not migrated)

1:1
Fully supported

Wired Plus forms capture subscriber data and link to campaigns or landing pages. We export form field names, submission logs, and field-to-contact mappings as structured metadata. Form-to-field mappings and form handler IDs do not transfer because they reference Wired Plus-specific endpoint identifiers. We deliver a form inventory document for the admin to rebuild form connections in Zoho Forms or the chosen landing page replacement tool.

Wired Plus

Attachment

maps to

Zoho CRM

(gap documented)

1:1
Fully supported

File attachments stored within Wired Plus records are not reliably accessible via the standard export interface. We recommend exporting attachments separately via direct download before migration begins and storing them in a shared location that the customer's Zoho admin can re-attach post-migration. We document the record-to-attachment mapping in the deliverables so that the admin can reconnect files to the correct Zoho CRM record after go-live.

Pair-specific challenges

  • Opt-in consent flags require explicit Wired Plus query

Wired Plus stores email consent flags as part of the contact record, but these flags are not included in default CSV exports. We query the opt_in and source fields explicitly during extraction to avoid landing contacts as active subscribers in Zoho CRM without proper consent documentation. Failing to preserve opt-in status creates GDPR risk and potential spam classification violations at the destination. The flag must be stored in a dedicated Zoho CRM custom field and mapped explicitly during import.

  • Custom field schema requires account-specific resolution

Each Wired Plus account can define custom fields on contacts and deals, but the export CSV uses field labels rather than internal field IDs. We resolve field labels to internal identifiers during scoping by pulling the field schema via the API before building the import mapping. Labels that have changed since the last export require manual correction before migration begins. Migrations that skip this step result in custom fields being misnamed or mis-typed in Zoho CRM, requiring post-migration cleanup.

  • Wired Plus Contact-to-Zoho Leads-Contacts split requires upfront design

Wired Plus uses a unified Contact model with pipeline stage stored as a property. Zoho CRM separates unqualified prospects (Leads) from qualified buyers (Contacts attached to Accounts). We design the split rule during scoping based on the customer's Wired Plus stage matrix, apply it as the first transform, and preserve the original stage in a custom Zoho field. Migrations that skip this step create Zoho Leads and Contacts without a clear separation, requiring manual cleanup after go-live.

  • Automation workflow logic does not transfer between platforms

Wired Plus automation workflows define trigger-action sequences including conditional branches and time delays. Zoho Workflow Rules and Blueprint use different trigger event IDs, condition operators, and action types. We export workflow definitions as structured metadata but do not migrate them as functional Zoho automation. We provide a workflow audit log documenting each Wired Plus workflow with its trigger, conditions, actions, and a recommended Zoho equivalent for the customer's admin to rebuild.

  • Attachment export is not reliable via standard Wired Plus interface

File attachments stored within Wired Plus records are not reliably accessible via the standard export interface or API. We recommend that the customer exports attachments directly from Wired Plus before migration begins and stores them in a shared location. We document the record-to-attachment mapping in the deliverables so that the admin can re-attach files to the correct Zoho CRM record after go-live. This gap affects any migration with attachment-dependent records.

Migration approach

Six steps for a successful Wired Plus to Zoho CRM data migration

  1. Discovery and Wired Plus field schema audit

We audit the source Wired Plus account including contact volume, deal volume, custom field definitions, pipeline stage sequence, active automation workflows, campaign send history, tag structure, and any attachment inventory. We pull the Wired Plus API field schema to resolve custom field labels to internal identifiers before any export begins. This audit output is a written migration scope document covering record counts per object, custom field inventory, automation inventory, and a recommendation on whether to include campaign performance data in the migration or handle it separately.

  2. Zoho CRM schema provisioning and field design

We provision the Zoho CRM destination schema before any data import. This includes creating custom fields on Lead, Contact, Account, and Potentially Spurious Leads to match the resolved Wired Plus custom field set, including the wiredplus_original_stage__c audit field and a GDPR-consent custom field for opt-in status. We configure the Potentially Sporific Leads stage picklist values based on the Wired Plus stage sequence, and set up Tags if the Zoho edition includes them. Schema is deployed into a Zoho Sandbox or the production org with a validation run before live migration begins.

  3. Opt-in consent extraction and GDPR flag mapping

We run an explicit Wired Plus API query for the opt_in and source consent fields on every contact record. These values are mapped to the dedicated GDPR custom field in Zoho CRM so that contacts land with their consent status preserved rather than defaulting to a marketing-active classification. This step satisfies GDPR requirements and prevents spam violation risk at the destination. The consent mapping is validated against a sample of records before full contact import begins.

  4. Contact split and record migration in dependency order

We run record migration in dependency order: Accounts (from Wired Plus Companies), Contacts (with the Leads-Contacts split applied and AccountId resolved), Leads (for contacts in early funnel stages), Potentially Spurious Leads (with AccountId or ContactId resolved), then tags. Each phase emits a row-count reconciliation report before the next phase begins. Custom field values are mapped during each phase using the resolved field schema from the audit step.

  5. Campaign performance and automation inventory handoff

We export Wired Plus campaign send history, open rates, and click data into Zoho CRM Campaign records with custom performance fields. Wired Plus automation workflow definitions are exported as structured JSON and delivered as a written workflow audit log with Zoho Workflow Rule and Blueprint equivalents documented per workflow. Landing page and form metadata are delivered as separate inventories. Cutover includes a delta migration pass for any records modified during the migration window, then the customer transitions to Zoho CRM as system of record.

  6. Validation and post-migration deliverables

We run post-migration reconciliation comparing record counts in Zoho CRM against the original Wired Plus export totals across all migrated objects. The customer spot-checks a random sample of records for field accuracy and signs off the migration. We deliver the automation workflow inventory, landing page inventory, form inventory, and attachment mapping document as written handoff materials for the customer's admin to use during Zoho configuration. We do not rebuild Wired Plus automations in Zoho as part of the migration scope; that is a separate engagement.

Strengths

  • Generous free tier (3 users) with real CRM functionality — no artificial feature restrictions that prevent valid use cases.
  • Per-seat pricing is transparent and predictable; no contact-based billing surprises that inflate monthly invoices.
  • Blueprint visual workflow builder lets sales ops teams automate stage progressions without developer involvement.
  • Canvas drag-and-drop layout editor lets non-technical users customize module views and forms per role.
  • Active development cadence: API v8 is well-documented, supports bulk endpoints, and COQL queries handle complex filtering.

Weaknesses

  • Poor support quality and inconsistent SLA — Enterprise tier requires 50+ user minimum for Priority Phone support.
  • Daily export limits in the UI vary by plan tier, making large dataset extraction slow and planning-dependent.
  • Zia AI features are gated behind $40+/user Enterprise tier, not available to most SMB customers who chose Zoho for cost savings.
  • User-reported occasional UI inconsistencies and performance slowdowns on large datasets with many custom fields.
  • No EU-hosted option limits appeal for GDPR-sensitive companies; some competitors offer data residency guarantees Zoho does not.

Standard migrations complete in three to five weeks for accounts with fewer than 15,000 contacts, 3,000 deals, and a straightforward custom field schema. Projects with account-specific custom field sets spanning multiple objects, campaign performance histories, or tagging structures requiring tag field configuration extend to six to ten weeks. The timeline includes discovery, schema provisioning, consent flag extraction, record migration in dependency order, and validation but excludes the automation rebuild work that your admin handles separately.
