Why people choose Click

The signal that keeps Click on the shortlist. Sourced from G2, Capterra, and customer scoping calls.

ClickDimensions is chosen by organizations already invested in Microsoft Dynamics 365 who want native marketing automation without a separate platform.

It provides email campaign management, event registration, web tracking, and surveys that extend the Dynamics CRM data model directly.

Customers report that integration with Dynamics is carefully handled and updates between the two systems are generally seamless.

The platform appeals to marketing teams that want to keep all customer engagement data within the Microsoft ecosystem.

ClickDimensions is limited to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem, making it difficult to switch to non-Microsoft CRMs without losing marketing activity history.

The platform's interface and feature set lag behind standalone marketing automation tools, prompting teams to move to HubSpot or Marketo.

Support responsiveness and product update cadence have been cited as pain points by mid-market customers.

Custom field usage on the free plan is capped at 60 uses, which frustrates teams that need broader automation without upgrading.

SWOT — strengths, weaknesses, and use-case fit

Strengths

Native integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM with bidirectional data sync.Marketing automation (email, events, web tracking, surveys) in a single add-on layer.Built-in export and import tools for moving Click records between Dynamics environments.Web tracking and survey functionality without requiring a separate marketing platform.

Weaknesses

Tied exclusively to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem, limiting destination options for migrations.Free plan imposes hard limits on Custom Field usage that affect automation-heavy deployments.Marketing feature set lags behind dedicated marketing automation platforms.Product update cadence and customer support responsiveness trail competitors.

Where it works

Microsoft Dynamics 365-first organizations that want marketing automation natively embedded in their existing CRM without managing a separate platform.Marketing teams at mid-market firms (51–1000 employees) that need email campaigns, event registration, and web tracking tied directly to CRM contacts and accounts.IT departments that prefer a single Microsoft stack vendor for both CRM and marketing functions to simplify procurement and governance.Companies operating in regulated industries where keeping marketing activity data within the Microsoft/Azure boundary satisfies data residency requirements.

Where it struggles

Organizations that use Salesforce, HubSpot, or other non-Microsoft CRMs — ClickDimensions has no viable integration path for these environments.Companies requiring advanced marketing automation capabilities like sophisticated lead scoring models, behavioral targeting, or multi-channel journey orchestration.Growing teams that have outgrown the free or entry-tier plans and encounter hard limits on Custom Field usage, which throttle automation-heavy deployments.Firms that prioritize rapid product innovation and responsive support — reviews indicate both update cadence and support responsiveness lag behind standalone marketing platforms.

What gets migrated

Click object support

Object-by-object support for Click migrations. Per-pair details surface during scoping.

Contacts

Fully supported

Contacts are stored in the underlying Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, not in ClickDimensions itself. ClickDimensions extends contacts with marketing attributes like consent flags, email engagement scores, and custom field values. We migrate the contact base records from Dynamics and bring along ClickDimensions-specific properties attached to each contact.

Accounts (Companies)

Fully supported

Accounts are stored in Dynamics 365 CRM. ClickDimensions links marketing activity to accounts primarily through the contact-to-account relationship. We preserve account-company records and their association to contacts during migration.

Leads

Fully supported

Leads are standard Dynamics CRM records that can receive ClickDimensions marketing annotations. We migrate leads with their associated ClickDimensions custom field data and lead-scoring attributes.

Email Sends

Mapping required

ClickDimensions tracks email send records as marketing activity attached to CRM contacts. The send date, campaign name, and status are migrated; individual email engagement events (opens, clicks) are mapped to Activities on the contact record in the destination.

Event Registrations

Mapping required

Event management entities in ClickDimensions store registrations linked to CRM contacts and accounts. Registration status, session choices, and custom registration fields require field-level mapping to the destination event or CRM object.

Web Tracking Events

Mapping required

ClickDimensions captures web behavioral events tied to known contacts (via email) or anonymous visitors. We map known-contact events to CRM activity records; anonymous visitor data is optionally migrated as notes or custom records depending on destination capability.

Survey Responses

Mapping required

Survey responses in ClickDimensions are linked to contacts and include answer data in custom field structures. We extract response records and map survey questions to destination custom fields or a survey-results object.

Custom Fields

Mapping required

ClickDimensions supports custom fields on tasks and other entities via its API. Free Forever plans limit Custom Field writes to 60 uses per workspace; each Set Custom Field Value API call counts as one use. We flag custom field mappings during scoping and handle write limits by batching edits or using the UI for small-volume migrations.

Activities

Fully supported

ClickDimensions creates activity records in Dynamics 365 for email engagement, form submissions, and other interactions. These are standard CRM activity objects and migrate cleanly to any Dynamics-based or compatible destination.

How a Click migration works

Four steps, Click-specific

Connect

Click is delivered as a native Dynamics 365 / Power Platform extension; integrations primarily flow through the Dataverse Web API (OAuth 2.0 via Microsoft Entra ID). The vendor itself does not publish a separate standalone REST API portal — apitracker.io and openbankingtracker confirm an 'API' exists for the product but the surface is Dynamics-centric. into Click. Scopes limited to read-only on the data we move.

Map

We translate Click-specific structures (custom fields, objects, value lists) to the destination's model.
