Overview
Moving from Kentro ERP & 3PL to Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a consolidation from an e-commerce-native platform with minimal enterprise documentation to a mature, widely-supported ERP with deep integration into Azure, Power BI, and Microsoft 365. Kentro's strength lies in its unified 3PL-OMS-WMS data model for Shopify-native brands; Dynamics 365's strength lies in its configurability, compliance depth, and enterprise support structure. We handle the structural differences between Kentro's flat multi-client tenant model and Dynamics 365's legal-entity and warehouse-location hierarchies, preserve EDI document snapshots for B2B wholesale accounts, and isolate each 3PL client into their own Dynamics 365 company or warehouse partition. Workflows, automated order routing rules, and Shopify-specific channel settings do not migrate; we deliver a written inventory of these for the customer's admin to rebuild in Dynamics 365's Power Automate or embedded workflow designer.

Object mapping
Each row shows how a Kentro ERP & 3PL object lands in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including any object-level transformations, lookup resolution, or schema-design dependencies.
Typical mapping — final map is confirmed during the sample migration step.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Product
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Item (Product2 or Inventory Posting Setup)
1:1Kentro Products with variants and SKU-level tracking map to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Item records. We map Kentro product variants to Dynamics 365 product variants using the ProductVariants table in Business Central or the EcoResProductVariant table in Finance & Operations. Kentro's hs_sku equivalent maps to Item No. or Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) fields. Pricing tiers from Kentro map to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales Prices and Discount groups. The product catalog is migrated first because Sales Orders and Inventory transactions depend on valid Item references.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Inventory
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Item Ledger Entry + Warehouse Entry
lossyKentro real-time inventory positions across locations map to Dynamics 365 Item Ledger Entries for financial inventory and Warehouse Entries for bin-level tracking. We map Kentro warehouse locations to Dynamics 365 Locations, preserving FIFO/FEFO tracking logic as Lot Tracking or Serial Number setup in inventory posting groups. Current stock snapshots migrate as opening quantities; historical movement logs migrate as posted Item Ledger Entry records with Entry exit values preserved for audit trails.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Order
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Sales Order or Purchase Order
1:1Kentro Orders flow through the full lifecycle from channel receipt to fulfillment. We map open orders to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales Orders with Order Status, shipping address, and line items preserved. Historical fulfilled orders migrate as Sales Invoice records with the original order reference. Returns and refunds map to Sales Return Orders or Credit Memos linked to the original invoice. The Kentro order number becomes the External Document No. in Dynamics 365 for cross-system reconciliation.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Customer (B2C)
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Customer
1:1Kentro B2C customers map to Dynamics 365 Customer records. We map customer name, email, phone, and address fields directly. Kentro's address associations map to Dynamics 365 Address fields with the Ship-to and Bill-to roles preserved. Customer pricing terms from Kentro map to Customer Price Groups in Dynamics 365. B2C customer records are migrated before Sales Orders so that Customer No. references are satisfied at import time.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Customer (B2B Company)
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Customer + Contact
1:1Kentro B2B company accounts map to Dynamics 365 Customer records with associated Contact records for individual buyers. Company-level pricing terms map to Customer Price Groups or Customer Discount Groups. The B2B account hierarchy in Kentro (parent company with subsidiary locations) maps to Dynamics 365 Customer hierarchies using the Ship-To Address functionality or the Contact Organization feature in Business Central.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Supplier
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Vendor
1:1Kentro Supplier records with contact details, lead times, and default terms map to Dynamics 365 Vendor records. Vendor address, payment terms, and shipment terms migrate directly. Kentro purchase orders map to Dynamics 365 Purchase Orders with Vendor No. resolved at import time. Vendor catalog items (if any) can be mapped to Item records flagged as purchased rather than sold.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Purchase Order
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Purchase Order
1:1Kentro supplier-facing purchase orders map to Dynamics 365 Purchase Orders. PO status, expected delivery dates, and line items migrate. Any custom approval chains in Kentro are flagged in the handoff document for manual configuration in Dynamics 365 approval workflows. Open POs migrate with their current status; closed POs migrate as posted Purchase Receipts and Invoices.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
3PL Client
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Company or Location Partition
many:1Kentro multi-client 3PL setups host each client as a separate tenant partition within one database. We isolate each client's inventory pool, order history, and billing records and map them into separate Dynamics 365 Companies (Business Central) or Legal Entities (Finance & Operations). This ensures that one 3PL client's inventory does not blend with another's. The mapping requires a client-to-company lookup table built during discovery.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Stock Transfer
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Transfer Order or Item Journal
1:1Kentro inter-warehouse transfer orders map to Dynamics 365 Transfer Orders with From Location and To Location fields populated. Transfer status at migration time determines whether the transfer migrates as an open Transfer Order or as a posted Transfer Receipt. In-transit items during migration window are flagged for a delta migration after cutover.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Shipping Record
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Shipment Header + Tracking Integration
1:1Kentro fulfillment events and carrier tracking data linked to orders map to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales Shipment records. We map shipping method names and tracking numbers to the Shipment Header. Carrier-specific metadata (e.g., FedEx SmartPost details) may require supplementary export from Kentro or re-entry in Dynamics 365's shipping documentation if no middleware connector is in place.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Sales Channel
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Integration Configuration
lossyKentro marketplace connections, Shopify integration, and channel-specific settings map to Dynamics 365 integration configurations or AppExchange connectors. We preserve the channel-to-order linkage so historical orders retain their originating source (Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Walmart) as a custom field. Channel-specific settings (e.g., Shopify-specific inventory rules) are documented for rebuild in the destination's integration layer.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
EDI Document
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Document Attachment or External File Store
1:1Kentro EDI compliance documents (EDI 850 purchase orders, EDI 856 ASN feeds, EDI 810 invoices) used for B2B wholesale operations are preserved as document attachments linked to the corresponding Sales Order or Purchase Order in Dynamics 365. Because Dynamics 365 Business Central does not have native EDI parsing, we store the original EDI document as a PDF or XML attachment with the document type noted. A separate EDI rebuild plan documents the recommended ISV connector (Cleo, True Commerce) to restore automated EDI processing post-migration.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Analytics Report (Kentro IQ)
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Report Snapshot + Power BI Configuration
1:1Kentro IQ reports and underlying datasets migrate as static report snapshots for historical reference. We export available report definitions and the data they query. Power BI report configurations that replicate Kentro IQ analysis (inventory velocity, order fulfillment rates, SKU performance) are documented for rebuild in Power BI Desktop and published to the Dynamics 365 workspace. Native Dynamics 365 reports that cover equivalent metrics are identified during discovery.
Kentro ERP & 3PL
Document (Attachments)
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Document Attachment
1:1Kentro file attachments on orders, products, or customers migrate as Dynamics 365 Document Attachment records linked via the Related Record ID to the parent record. We preserve attachment URLs from Kentro's file storage and re-link them where Dynamics 365 supports incoming file references. Large document archives may require Azure Blob Storage configuration in the destination environment.

Pair-specific challenges
Migration approach
Discovery and destination edition selection
We audit the Kentro environment across multi-client tenant structure, product catalog size, open order volume, EDI document archive size, and inventory movement log availability. We pair this with a Dynamics 365 edition decision: Business Central (Essentials $80/user or Premium $110/user) covers most e-commerce and mid-market 3PL migrations; Finance & Operations (Essentials $180/user or Premium $300/user) is required for multi-entity legal structures, advanced warehousing, and manufacturing. The discovery output is a written migration scope, a client-to-company partition map for 3PL clients, and an EDI document preservation plan.
Schema design and partition architecture
We design the destination Dynamics 365 schema. For 3PL migrations this includes provisioning separate Companies (Business Central) or Legal Entities (Finance & Operations) per Kentro client. For all migrations this includes mapping Kentro warehouse locations to Dynamics 365 Locations, mapping Kentro product variants to Dynamics 365 Item variants, and configuring inventory posting groups. If EDI is in scope, we coordinate with the customer's chosen EDI ISV partner to document the EDI document format and mapping requirements before data extraction begins.
Sandbox migration and reconciliation
We run a full migration into a Dynamics 365 Sandbox environment using production-like data volume. The customer's operations lead reconciles record counts (Products in, Inventory positions per location, Orders in per status, Customers in, 3PL Client partitions in), spot-checks 25-50 random records against Kentro source data, and signs off the schema and mapping before production migration begins. EDI document preservation is validated by opening migrated EDI PDFs and confirming they attach to the correct Sales Orders.
Owner and contact reconciliation
We extract every distinct Kentro user or contact referenced on orders, customers, and shipments and match against the Dynamics 365 destination's User or Contact tables. For 3PL client-specific contacts, we map them to the correct Company or Legal Entity partition. Any unmapped contacts go to a reconciliation queue for the customer's admin to provision before record import resumes.
Production migration in dependency order
We run production migration in record-dependency order: Locations and Warehouse setup (per 3PL client partition), Items and Product variants, Inventory opening balances, Customers and Contacts (per partition), Vendors, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders (open first, then historical), Stock Transfers, Shipping records, EDI document attachments, and Analytics report snapshots. Each phase emits a row-count reconciliation report before the next phase begins. EDI documents are attached to the corresponding Sales Order during the order phase.
Cutover, validation, and workflow rebuild handoff
We freeze Kentro writes during cutover, run a final delta migration of any orders or inventory changes during the migration window, then enable Dynamics 365 as the system of record. We deliver the workflow and automation inventory document (Kentro routing rules, Shopify sync logic, EDI mapping profiles requiring ISV configuration) to the customer's admin team. We support a one-week hypercare window where we resolve any reconciliation issues. We do not rebuild Kentro workflows as Power Automate flows or EDI configurations inside the migration scope; that is a separate engagement or an internal admin task.
