Overview

What this migration involves

Moving from Sales Creatio to Nutshell is a size and complexity reduction, not a feature-for-feature swap. Creatio's deep process-automation layer, industry-specific editions, and BPM workflow engine have no direct equivalents in Nutshell's lean, web-first sales CRM. We handle the object-level migration of Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities, Cases, Activities, Orders, and Products with their lookup chains intact. Custom objects and custom fields receive explicit type-level mapping during the discovery pass. Creatio BPM workflows are not portable; we deliver a written inventory documenting every active workflow's trigger, steps, conditions, and actions so your admin can rebuild them in Nutshell's automation tools. We do not migrate Files and Attachments as standard scope; these require a separate extraction and re-link step. Nutshell's transparent per-user pricing starts at $16 per month versus Creatio's $25 per user per month minimum, making the switch attractive for teams that no longer need enterprise workflow depth.

Schema-aware mapping

AI proposes the map; you confirm before any record moves.

Relationships preserved

Parent–child, lookups, and ownership stay linked.

Full activity history

Calls, emails, meetings — with original timestamps.

Attachments & notes

Documents, uploads, and inline notes move with the record.

Why teams make this switch

Two sides of the same decision

Leaving

What's pushing teams away

  • The abundance of customization options, objects, and configuration paths creates a steep learning curve that overwhelms new administrators and end users.
  • Large-scale data migrations—millions of records—trigger Creatio's live update feature, which floods the browser UI with socket signals and causes instance unresponsiveness.
  • Implementation timelines are long for enterprise deployments; third-party reviews consistently cite a minimum of one quarter with a certified implementation partner.
  • The jump from Classic UI to Freedom UI requires a dedicated dashboard migration tool; reports and analytics built in the old UI do not automatically carry forward.
  • Support quality varies by tier and region, with some mid-market customers reporting slower response times than expected after initial onboarding.

Choosing

Nutshell logo

Nutshell

What's pulling them in

  • Lowest cost entry point among mid-market CRMs—Foundation plan starts at $13/user/month, making it accessible for teams validating CRM fit before committing.
  • Integrated sales automation and email sequencing on Pro plans without requiring a separate email marketing platform, per verified Capterra reviews.
  • Consistently praised for intuitive interface and fast onboarding, with case studies reporting 100% team adoption rates within initial deployment periods.
  • Strong customer support responsiveness cited across G2 reviews, with dedicated support tiers available on Enterprise plans.
  • Native integrations with WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and Slack reduce reliance on third-party middleware for common communication channels.

Object mapping

How Sales Creatio objects map to Nutshell

Each row shows how a Sales Creatio object lands in Nutshell, including any object-level transformations, lookup resolution, or schema-design dependencies.

Typical mapping — final map is confirmed during the sample migration step.

Sales Creatio

Accounts

maps to

Nutshell

Company

1:1
Fully supported

Creatio Accounts map directly to Nutshell Companies. Address fields, industry classification, type, and ownership transfer as-is. The Company record must exist before any Contact import so that the person-to-company link is satisfied at insert time. We use company name as the dedupe key during import.

Sales Creatio

Contacts

maps to

Nutshell

Person

1:1
Fully supported

Creatio Contacts map to Nutshell People. Name, email, phone, communication preferences, and owner assignment transfer directly. The link to parent Account maps to the Nutshell person-to-company relationship. Lifecycle stage from Creatio transfers as a custom text field on the Nutshell Person record.

Sales Creatio

Leads

maps to

Nutshell

Lead

1:1
Fully supported

Creatio Leads map to Nutshell Leads. Lead source, status, rating, and conversion date fields transfer as custom fields on the Nutshell Lead. Unconverted Creatio Leads remain Leads in Nutshell; leads that were partially converted before migration are flagged for manual review.

Sales Creatio

Opportunities

maps to

Nutshell

Deal

1:1
Mapping required

Creatio Opportunities map to Nutshell Deals. Pipeline stage, amount, probability, and close date transfer. Stage names from Creatio are preserved as-is in Nutshell's Deal stage field; if the stage names differ significantly from Nutshell defaults, we configure custom stage names during the pre-migration setup phase.

Sales Creatio

Activities

maps to

Nutshell

Activity

1:1
Mapping required

Creatio Activities (tasks, calls, emails, meetings) map to Nutshell Activity records. The activity type enumeration normalizes to Nutshell's activity types (Task, Call, Email, Meeting). Regarding lookups link to the migrated Person, Company, or Deal. Activity timestamps and owner assignments preserve throughout.

Sales Creatio

Cases

maps to

Nutshell

Case (via Activities or Custom Field tracking)

lossy
Fully supported

Creatio Cases map to Nutshell Cases if the Nutshell plan includes Case management. If Cases are not available on the target plan, we map case records to a combination of Activity notes and a custom Deal field tracking open issues. Priority, status, and resolution notes migrate as custom fields. SLA timers do not transfer as Nutshell lacks a native SLA engine.

Sales Creatio

Orders

maps to

Nutshell

Deal with line item notes

lossy
Fully supported

Creatio Orders map to Nutshell Deals with line item detail preserved in the Deal description or a linked custom field. The order-to-product lookup resolves by matching Products to Nutshell Products during import. If the customer uses Nutshell Quotes, the order header migrates as a draft Quote rather than a closed Deal.

Sales Creatio

Products

maps to

Nutshell

Product

1:1
Fully supported

Creatio Products carry pricing, unit type, and tax categories that map to Nutshell Products. Product pricing migrates as Standard Price Book entries. Bundle and pricing rule support depends on Nutshell's quoting capabilities on the target plan.

Sales Creatio

Custom Objects

maps to

Nutshell

Not supported in Nutshell

1:1
Mapping required

Creatio custom objects have no direct Nutshell equivalent because Nutshell does not support standalone custom object types. We document every custom object schema (field list, types, relationships) and propose a mapping strategy: child records of custom objects may attach to a parent standard record as custom fields, or the customer accepts that the custom object data migrates as a CSV reference table outside Nutshell. This must be resolved during scoping.

Sales Creatio

Custom Fields

maps to

Nutshell

Custom Fields (People, Company, Lead)

1:1
Mapping required

Creatio custom fields on standard objects map to Nutshell custom fields on the equivalent People, Company, or Lead object. Nutshell supports Text (225 chars), Long Text, Currency, and Date field types. Complex Creatio field types (lookups, multi-select picklists) require transformation to a Nutshell-supported equivalent or a manual post-migration cleanup step.

Sales Creatio

Users and Owners

maps to

Nutshell

User

1:1
Mapping required

Creatio user records map to Nutshell User accounts by email match. Owner assignments on Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities, and Activities resolve by matching Creatio owner email to Nutshell User email. Orphaned owners (Creatio users with no Nutshell match) are flagged in the reconciliation report for the customer's admin to provision before record import continues.

Pair-specific challenges

  • BPM workflows are not portable and require complete manual rebuild

Creatio's BPM workflow engine stores automation logic in a proprietary format that has no export path to Nutshell or any other CRM. We export every active BPM workflow as a written reference document listing trigger conditions, step sequence, decision branches, and action types. Your admin rebuilds these in Nutshell's automation rules. This is not a migration step; it is a rebuild step your team must plan for separately. Skipping this step means losing all automated routing, escalation, and notification logic built in Creatio Studio.

  • Nutshell has no standalone custom object type

Creatio's custom object support allows teams to build data models for Projects, Subscriptions, Vehicles, or any domain-specific entity. Nutshell supports custom fields only on People, Companies, and Leads. If your Creatio instance has active custom objects, we document the schema during discovery and propose a mapping strategy: child custom object records can attach to a parent standard record as custom fields or structured text, or the data migrates as a CSV reference table outside Nutshell. Custom object relationships that rely on lookups between custom objects may not be representable in Nutshell.

  • Large activity histories require batched migration without a native Bulk API

Creatio activity records (calls, emails, meetings, tasks) transfer to Nutshell through its REST API or CSV import tooling. Nutshell does not expose a Bulk API equivalent, so large engagement histories (over 100,000 activity records) migrate in batches with pagination and retry logic. We chunk activity records by type and date range to avoid timeout errors. File attachments require a separate extraction step coordinated with your Creatio instance (cloud support ticket or FileMigrator utility for on-site instances) and are re-linked manually in Nutshell post-import.

  • Live update socket storm is a Creatio-side risk during any bulk read operation

Creatio's live update feature emits socket signals for every record add or update. If any browser tab is open viewing the affected record type during migration export, the Creatio instance can become unresponsive. We disable live update globally before initiating any bulk export session and re-enable it after validation. Export sessions run without an active browser session attached to the Creatio instance.

  • Creatio's Freedom UI dashboards require the Dashboards Migrator app for transition

If your Creatio instance uses the Freedom UI and has custom dashboards, the Marketplace Dashboards Migrator app must be installed in the Nutshell environment to carry dashboards forward. We include this step in the migration plan as a post-import task. Dashboards built in Creatio's Classic UI do not automatically carry to Freedom UI or Nutshell.

Migration approach

Six steps for a successful Sales Creatio to Nutshell data migration

  1. Discovery and data audit

We audit the source Creatio instance across edition (Growth, Enterprise, Unlimited), custom objects, custom fields, active BPM workflows, activity volume by type, file storage location (database vs S3/Azure Blob), and user count. We pair this with a Nutshell edition recommendation based on the customer's team size and required features. The discovery output is a written migration scope, object inventory, and a list of items requiring admin decision (custom object handling, workflow rebuild priority, file extraction approach).

  2. Schema design and pre-migration Nutshell setup

We configure Nutshell before any data moves. This includes creating custom fields on People, Companies, and Leads to match Creatio custom fields, configuring Deal stages to match the Creatio pipeline stage names, setting up any required nuttShell automation rules, and provisioning User accounts for every Creatio owner referenced on migrating records. Nutshell setup happens in a trial or development environment first for validation.

  3. Owner reconciliation and User provisioning

We extract every distinct Creatio user referenced as an owner on Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities, and Activities and match by email against the Nutshell User table. Any Creatio owner without a matching Nutshell User enters a reconciliation queue for the customer to provision before record migration resumes. OwnerId references are required on most standard object imports, so this step gates the rest of the migration.

  4. Production migration in dependency order

We run production migration in record-dependency order: Companies (from Creatio Accounts), People (from Creatio Contacts with CompanyId resolved), Leads (from Creatio Leads), Deals (from Creatio Opportunities with CompanyId and OwnerId resolved), Activities by type (tasks, calls, emails, meetings in separate batches), Cases, Orders, Products. Custom objects migrate last and use a documented fallback strategy if Nutshell's schema cannot represent the relationship directly. Each phase emits a row-count reconciliation report before the next phase begins.

  5. BPM workflow inventory delivery and automation handoff

We export every active Creatio BPM workflow as a written reference document. The document captures the workflow name, trigger type, step sequence, decision conditions, action types, and any lookup or field references. This is not a migration of workflow logic; it is a specification document for your admin to use when rebuilding equivalent automation in Nutshell's rules-based automation layer. We deliver the document at the same time as the migration sign-off.

  6. Cutover, validation, and post-migration support

We freeze Creatio writes during cutover, run a final delta migration of any records modified during the migration window, then enable Nutshell as the system of record. We validate record counts, spot-check 20-30 records against the Creatio source, and deliver the migration reconciliation report. We offer a three-day hypercare window for reconciliation issues. We do not rebuild BPM workflows or configure Nutshell automation rules as standard scope; these are separate engagements or internal admin tasks.

Sales Creatio

Source

Strengths

  • Genuine no-code process builder that business users can operate without developer involvement
  • Industry-specific editions with pre-built data models for banking, manufacturing, pharma, and more
  • Automation for lead routing, deal stages, case escalation, and order processing is mature and well-documented
  • Connect Creatio provides documented migration connectors to over 20 competing CRM platforms
  • Unlimited Enterprise pricing removes per-user billing, making large team rollouts cost-predictable

Weaknesses

  • Feature breadth creates a steep learning curve that frustrates new administrators and slows adoption
  • Large-volume data migrations trigger live update socket storms that can crash browser sessions
  • BPM workflow definitions are not portable across CRM platforms and require complete manual rebuild
  • Dashboard and report migration from Classic UI to Freedom UI needs a separate marketplace tool
  • Enterprise and Unlimited tiers are required for SSO, pushing cost-sensitive mid-market buyers to lower tiers without it
Nutshell logo

Nutshell

Destination

Strengths

  • Simple, intuitive interface with minimal learning curve for sales teams new to CRM
  • Per-seat pricing is transparent and predictable, with annual billing reducing monthly cost
  • Full data export tool available for all account data including backups
  • Open JSON-RPC API allows programmatic access to all core objects
  • Native multichannel engagement (email, SMS, WhatsApp) without third-party add-ons for communication

Weaknesses

  • Reporting and analytics are considered weak, requiring manual Excel exports for detailed analysis
  • No bulk API endpoint—migration requires paginated API reads that must be rate-limited carefully
  • JSON-RPC API is less common than REST, requiring custom integration code compared to standard REST CRMs
  • Add-on costs (Forms, Nutshell IQ, Email Marketing) are per-company charges that stack on top of per-seat pricing
  • Feature restrictions on entry-level plans mean teams often need mid-tier to get basic automation

Straightforward migrations under 15,000 Contacts and 3,000 Opportunities complete in one to three weeks. Migrations with custom objects, large case or activity histories (over 200,000 activity records), or complex lookup dependencies require four to eight weeks because of the schema discovery pass, custom object strategy resolution, and reconciliation testing. The timeline depends heavily on how quickly the customer resolves owner reconciliation and approves the scoping document.
