In its favor

Why people choose Comet Suite

The signal that keeps Comet Suite on the shortlist. Sourced from G2, Capterra, and customer scoping calls.

Comet Suite is a mature, purpose-built FSM platform with GPS tracking and dispatch built into a single product rather than bolted on, which appeals to field service companies that want one vendor for their mobile workforce

The platform supports feature phones and flip phones alongside smartphones, making it viable for workforces where not every technician has a modern Android or iOS device

Customers in trucking, HVAC, utilities, and field services appreciate the real-time location visibility across multiple crews and job sites simultaneously

The attendance tracking module integrates with scheduling and dispatch, allowing supervisors to see who is on the clock and where they are assigned without switching tools

Organizations with multi-location operations use Comet Suite to maintain consistent service delivery standards across geographically dispersed teams

Users report a steep learning curve for dispatchers and administrators — the interface does not follow common SaaS conventions and requires dedicated training time

The web UI opens every click in a new window, which creates a fragmented and frustrating navigation experience that experienced users cite as a consistent pain point

Limited native integrations with accounting software means finance teams still manually re-enter invoice data from Comet Suite into their ledgers

The platform lacks a well-documented public API, making automated data extraction and migration difficult without custom development

As the business scales beyond 50–100 technicians, the lack of advanced reporting and analytics forces teams to export CSVs for analysis in external BI tools

Platform scorecard

Strengths, weaknesses, and where Comet Suite fits

Grades across six dimensions, plus a SWOT-style view of where the platform shines and where it falls short.

SWOT — strengths, weaknesses, and use-case fit

Strengths

Real-time GPS tracking of field technicians and vehicles across multiple simultaneous locationsDual-mode mobile app supporting both modern smartphones and legacy feature/flip phonesIntegrated attendance tracking tied directly to dispatch and schedulingCustom fields on Work Orders allow industry-specific data capture without platform changesCentralized administration portal for managing users, devices, and permissions across an organization

Weaknesses

No publicly documented API means all data exports require screen-scraping or manual CSV downloadsUI paradigm of opening every action in a new window frustrates power users and slows down high-volume dispatchersLimited native integrations with accounting, ERP, and CRM platforms — most connections require middleware or custom developmentAnalytics and reporting capabilities lag behind competitors, with no built-in BI or trend visualizationAttachment and document migration is not supported via any documented export path

Where it works

Small to mid-sized field service companies (50–100 technicians) operating in trucking, HVAC, utilities, and similar industries that need real-time GPS tracking without a modern device requirementMulti-location service organizations that must maintain consistent attendance and dispatch records across geographically dispersed teams simultaneouslyCompanies managing mixed workforces where some technicians use legacy feature phones or flip phones alongside smartphonesOrganizations seeking a single-vendor FSM solution that combines GPS tracking, attendance, and dispatch in one product rather than integrating multiple toolsField service operations in regions with limited smartphone penetration where the workforce relies on basic mobile devices

Where it struggles

Organizations scaling beyond 100 technicians that require built-in advanced analytics, trend visualization, or BI dashboards to inform management decisionsFinance teams needing native accounting software integration who currently re-enter invoice data manually from Comet Suite into their ledgersOperations requiring automated data exports or API-driven integrations, since no publicly documented API exists and data extraction requires screen-scraping or manual CSV downloadsHigh-volume dispatch environments where the UI paradigm of opening every action in a new window fragments navigation and slows experienced usersBusinesses requiring attachment and document migration support, as no documented export path exists for file attachments

Pricing tiers

Comet Suite pricing overview

Comet Suite is sold as a per-user, per-month subscription with optional modules for GPS tracking, attendance, and scheduling. Pricing is not publicly published on the Actsoft website and requires a sales conversation, which is typical for mid-market FSM products. Prospective customers should confirm total user count and which modules are active, as migration scoping depends on which data sets are populated in the customer's instance.

What gets migrated

Comet Suite object support

Object-by-object support for Comet Suite migrations. Per-pair details surface during scoping.

Work Orders

Fully supported

Work Orders are the primary operational record in Comet Suite. They include status, customer info, assigned technician, location, and line items. We extract all standard fields and map them to Jobs or Projects in the destination system.

Technicians

Fully supported

Technician profiles contain contact info, skill tags, certifications, and vehicle assignment. We preserve all profile fields and map the primary location/region field to the destination's equivalent geography field.

Vehicles

Mapping required

Vehicle records include plate, type, assigned driver, and GPS unit ID. Some destination systems model vehicles differently — we map to Assets or Equipment objects and flag any vehicle-specific fields that require custom property creation.

Attendance / Time Entries

Mapping required

Attendance records are clock-in/clock-out events per technician per day. We extract raw events and reconstruct daily summaries. Some destinations use Timesheets or Time Entry objects with different date grouping conventions — we normalize these during the transform phase.

Routes

Mapping required

Routes bundle multiple Jobs into an ordered daily sequence for a technician. We flatten route order into a sequenced Job list with a route identifier tag so the destination can reconstruct dispatch groupings.

Locations / Sites

Mapping required

Customer site addresses are stored on Work Orders and as standalone Location records. We deduplicate and normalize addresses during import to avoid duplicate Location objects in the destination.

Custom Fields (Jobs)

Mapping required

Comet Suite allows custom fields on Work Orders. We extract the full custom field schema and create matching custom properties in the destination where supported, or flag them for manual setup.

Documents / Attachments

Not in this platform

Binary attachments stored on Work Orders or Jobs are not accessible via documented export APIs. We cannot guarantee complete migration of uploaded photos, signatures, or PDFs. We recommend exporting these manually from the Comet Suite web UI as a complementary step.
