Overview
Moving from LeadMaster to Nutshell is a migration from a bundled SMB platform with tier-based contact caps and bundled marketing automation to a sales-focused CRM with predictable per-user pricing and unlimited contacts. LeadMaster's Accounts map directly to Nutshell Companies, Leads map to Nutshell Leads, and Opportunities map to Nutshell Deals. We resolve the ownership chain during import, preserve the activity timeline, and map custom form fields to Nutshell custom fields that we pre-create before any records land. LeadMaster's workflow logic, marketing automation, and Smart Queue filters do not migrate as executable code; we deliver a written inventory of every automation and saved filter for your admin to rebuild. The migration typically completes in two to four weeks for small-to-mid-market accounts with under 10,000 records.
Every standard and custom field arrives verified.
AI proposes the map; you confirm before any record moves.
Parent–child, lookups, and ownership stay linked.
Calls, emails, meetings — with original timestamps.
Documents, uploads, and inline notes move with the record.

Object mapping
Each row shows how a LeadMaster object lands in Nutshell, including any object-level transformations, lookup resolution, or schema-design dependencies.
Typical mapping — final map is confirmed during the sample migration step.
LeadMaster
Account
Nutshell
Company
1:1LeadMaster Accounts map 1:1 to Nutshell Companies. We preserve the primary contact link, all standard address fields (street, city, state, postal code, country), and any custom properties mapped to Nutshell custom fields that we pre-create before Company import. The Company is the first object we migrate so that the People import can satisfy the 'works for Company' relationship at insert time.
LeadMaster
Lead
Nutshell
People
1:1LeadMaster Leads map to Nutshell People for records that represent individual contacts with a known company affiliation. We map owner assignment, status, source, and lifecycle fields to their Nutshell equivalents. LeadMaster custom properties that have no direct Nutshell equivalent are stored in custom fields created during schema setup. The lead status workflow from LeadMaster (new, contacted, follow-up) maps to Nutshell's People status values.
LeadMaster
Opportunity
Nutshell
Deal
1:1LeadMaster Opportunities map to Nutshell Deals. Stage, amount, close date, owner, and associated Account link migrate directly. Custom pipeline stages in LeadMaster are mapped against Nutshell's customizable deal stage list during configuration. The Deal-Company link is resolved at migration time by finding the matching Nutshell Company by name or domain.
LeadMaster
Case
Nutshell
Case
1:1LeadMaster Cases (the help desk module) map to Nutshell Cases. We preserve case number, status, priority, description, and the associated Company or Person link. Conversation threads are mapped to the Case's activity timeline. Cases are migrated after Companies and People so that the parent record references are satisfied at insert time.
LeadMaster
User / Owner
Nutshell
User
1:1LeadMaster Users and Owners map to Nutshell Users by email match. We extract every distinct owner referenced on Leads, Opportunities, and Cases during discovery and match by email against the Nutshell destination account's user list. Any LeadMaster owner without a matching Nutshell User is flagged for the customer's admin to provision before the migration run begins.
LeadMaster
Custom Form
Nutshell
Custom Fields on People / Company
lossyLeadMaster custom form field definitions and their submitted response data are mapped to Nutshell custom fields on People or Company depending on the form's target object. We extract both the form schema and the responses during discovery. Where a LeadMaster form field has no equivalent in the Nutshell standard schema, we create a typed custom field (text, number, date, or picklist) before migration and map the form response into it. The form layout itself must be replicated in Nutshell's form builder post-migration.
LeadMaster
Campaign
Nutshell
Campaign
1:1LeadMaster marketing campaigns and associated email send history are migrated as Nutshell Campaign records with contact associations. The campaign name, type, status, and start/end dates transfer. Email content and templates are exported from LeadMaster and re-imported to Nutshell's campaign email feature. Marketing automation sequences attached to campaigns do not migrate as executable logic and are documented for rebuild in Nutshell's email sequencing tool (Engagement Suite) or the customer's preferred platform.
LeadMaster
Activity / Note
Nutshell
Activity
1:1LeadMaster notes and logged activity (calls, emails, meetings, tasks) are mapped to Nutshell Activities associated with the relevant People, Company, or Deal record. Activity type, date, owner, and content all transfer. The activity schema is normalized at migration time so that LeadMaster's varied activity types (call log, email log, meeting note) map to the correct Nutshell Activity type.

Gotchas + challenges
Platform-specific issues from each side, plus the pair-specific challenges that don't show up on either platform's page on its own.
LeadMaster gotchas
Workflow logic does not survive migration
Tier-based contact limits can cause import overages
Pricing pages show conflicting tier structures
Email marketing module requires a Pro logon on lower tiers
Custom forms and their responses may have schema gaps
Nutshell gotchas
Contact tier limits enforced on import
No bulk API endpoint requires paginated extraction
Email sequences not exportable via API
Foundation plan disables key sales features
Pair-specific challenges
Migration approach
Discovery and scoping
We audit the LeadMaster portal across plan tier, object counts (Accounts, Leads, Opportunities, Cases, Campaign records), custom form field schemas, active workflow definitions, Smart Queue filters, and attachment volume. We pair this with a review of the Nutshell plan tier to confirm custom field limits (Foundation and Growth have a cap; Pro and above have unlimited) and feature availability (Sales Automation requires Pro). The discovery output is a written migration scope with object counts, custom field inventory, and a Nutshell plan recommendation.
Schema setup in Nutshell
We pre-create all required custom fields in Nutshell before any records migrate. This includes custom fields on People, Company, Deal, and Case objects to receive LeadMaster custom properties and form field data. We configure the Nutshell pipeline stages to match the LeadMaster opportunity stages, creating any missing stage values. If the customer is on a plan with custom field limits, we identify which fields are highest priority and flag any that would exceed the tier cap.
Sample migration and reconciliation
We run a test migration using a representative sample of LeadMaster data into the customer's Nutshell environment. The customer reviews the mapped records, validates that People are correctly linked to Companies, Deals are linked to the right stage and owner, and custom field data landed in the correct fields. Any mapping corrections are made before the production migration begins. This step also validates that Nutshell's validation rules and required fields are satisfied by the incoming data.
Owner and user reconciliation
We extract every distinct LeadMaster owner referenced on Leads, Opportunities, and Cases and match by email against the Nutshell destination account's user list. Any LeadMaster owner without a matching Nutshell User is flagged in a reconciliation report with the owner's name, email, and record count. The customer's Nutshell admin provisions any missing users (active or inactive depending on the original owner status) before the production migration run. Owner resolution is a prerequisite for Opportunity and Case import.
Production migration in dependency order
We run production migration in record-dependency order: Companies (from LeadMaster Accounts), People (with Company link resolved), Leads (for unqualified prospects), Deals (with owner and stage resolved), Cases (with Company and Person links resolved), Activities (notes, calls, emails mapped to the correct Nutshell Activity type and linked to the parent record), Campaigns (with contact associations), and Attachments (exported and re-uploaded with parent record links preserved). Each phase emits a row-count reconciliation report before the next phase begins.
Cutover, delta sync, and workflow handoff
We freeze LeadMaster writes during the cutover window, run a final delta migration of any records created or modified during the migration run, then set Nutshell as the system of record. We deliver the Workflow and Smart Queue inventory document to the customer's admin team. We support a three-day hypercare window where we resolve any reconciliation issues. We do not rebuild LeadMaster workflows as Nutshell Sales Automation inside the migration scope; that is a separate engagement or an internal admin task.
