Why people choose YouGile

The signal that keeps YouGile on the shortlist. Sourced from G2, Capterra, and customer scoping calls.

YouGile's free tier covers teams of up to 10 members, making it a zero-cost entry point for startups and small teams evaluating agile project management tools.

Users consistently describe its UX as clean and less confusing than competing tools like Trello or Asana, lowering onboarding time.

The tight integration of task chat directly within each task card eliminates context-switching between a messaging tool and a project tracker.

Time tracking embedded in tasks lets development and marketing teams log hours without leaving the work item, which appeals to billing-conscious managers.

The drag-and-drop board interface maps closely to kanban mental models that most agile teams already use, reducing resistance during adoption.

The mobile app is widely described as buggy and functionally limited compared to the web version, with empty chat entries persisting until restart.

Small teams and startups mention outgrowing YouGile as their project complexity, reporting needs, or team size increase beyond what the free tier supports.

No public API documentation found in the research means developers who need programmatic access or integrations hit a wall and migrate to platforms like Jira, ClickUp, or monday.com.

Advanced project management features such as custom fields, automated workflows, resource management, and portfolio-level views are absent or severely limited compared to enterprise PM tools.

Russian-origin platform raises data residency and compliance concerns for teams in EU, North America, or regulated industries, prompting migration to locally hosted alternatives.

What gets migrated

YouGile object support

Object-by-object support for YouGile migrations. Per-pair details surface during scoping.

Projects

Fully supported

Projects are top-level containers in YouGile. We migrate them 1:1 as Projects in most destination PM tools. Board name, description, and member list are preserved as core fields.

Columns

Mapping required

Columns exist within a Board and represent workflow stages (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Done). We map them to the destination's status or pipeline stages. Custom column names require explicit mapping during scoping.

Tasks

Fully supported

Tasks are the primary work item in YouGile. We preserve title, description, assignee, due date, priority, and creation/modification timestamps across all migrations.

Subtasks

Fully supported

Subtasks are nested under Tasks. We preserve the parent-child relationship and migrate the full subtask title and status. Completion state is carried over as a boolean field.

Task Chat

Mapping required

YouGile treats each Task as a chat thread. We extract these as comments with author, timestamp, and message body. Thread continuity is preserved in platforms that support comment threading.

Attachments

Mapping required

File attachments on tasks are referenced by URL in YouGile's data. We download and re-upload files to the destination, preserving filename and linked task association. Large file handling may require additional bandwidth provisioning.

Users/Members

Mapping required

User accounts are migrated as team members. Email, display name, and role are mapped. Since YouGile does not have a documented role hierarchy, we map all members as standard users in the destination.

Time Tracking

Mapping required

YouGile embeds time-tracking entries within tasks. We extract logged hours as a numeric value and map it to the destination's time-entry or custom-hours field. Rate and billing data are not available for migration.

Labels/Tags

Fully supported

Labels and tags applied to tasks are migrated as tags or labels in the destination. We preserve label name and color metadata where the destination schema supports it.

Gantt Charts

Not in this platform

YouGile exposes Gantt-chart views but the underlying data is not stored as a structured field in the API response. Start/end dates on tasks are migrated but the Gantt visual layout itself cannot be reproduced in the destination platform.

Webhooks/HTTP integrations

Not in this platform

YouGile supports outgoing webhooks for automations. These are configuration objects that reference external URLs and are not portable across platforms. We do not migrate webhook configurations.

Custom Fields

Mapping required

YouGile allows limited custom fields on tasks. We map custom field names and values to the destination's equivalent custom field structure, handling type mismatches (e.g., text vs. dropdown) on a case-by-case basis.
