Migrate your Rocket Matter data

The primary case object in Rocket Matter. Matters contain nested Tasks, Events, Notes, and Expenses. We migrate Matters with their status, practice area, assigned attorney, billing rate, and any matter-level custom fields. Matter templates are preserved as data rather than template objects.

Client records that may have associated Contact Custom Fields, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. We map Contacts 1:1 and preserve any custom field values using the destination system's equivalent custom field mechanism.

Billable time entries linked to Matters. Each entry carries a date, duration, billing rate, description, and billing status (billable/non-billable). We preserve the full time entry history including any adjustments or write-offs.

Legal-specific IOLTA trust accounts with ledger entries showing deposits, withdrawals, and running balances. Trust accounting compliance varies by state bar rules. We migrate the trust ledger and flag any balance discrepancies that need reconciliation before go-live.

Uploaded files and folders attached to Matters. Rocket Matter supports third-party DMS integrations (NetDocuments, Dropbox, Box). We migrate document metadata and binary files; linked DMS content may require re-linking in the destination system.

Both Matter Custom Fields and Contact Custom Fields are supported. Select List, text, date, and numeric field types are available. We map custom field values field-by-field and flag any Select List values that do not have an exact match in the destination system.

Bills generated from time entries and expenses using batch billing. Invoice history including payments, write-offs, and outstanding balances is migrated. We preserve the full invoice record so firms can reference historical billing data after migration.

User records with roles, permissions, and billing rate assignments. We migrate user accounts and map roles to the destination system's permission model. Owners assigned to Matters are remapped to the corresponding user in the new platform.

Task records tied to Matters with assignees, due dates, and completion status. Tasks can have dependencies in workflow automations. We preserve task data and flag workflow-dependent tasks that require rebuilding in the destination platform.

Calendar events associated with Matters or standalone. Rocket Matter supports court date tracking and deadline reminders. We migrate events with their date, time, associated matter, and invitee information.

Workflows with task dependencies are available on higher tiers. Conditional automation rules do not export cleanly. We document the existing workflow logic and provide a mapping guide for rebuilding equivalent automations in the destination system.

Rocket Matter Pay processes credit cards and e-checks. Payment history is stored but tied to Rocket Matter's payment processor. We migrate payment records and flag that the payment processor relationship does not transfer to the new platform.

Custom intake forms are available on higher tiers. Form definitions include custom field logic and conditional questions. We extract the form structure and map it to the destination system's intake form builder.

Templates using merge fields to populate client-specific documents. Rocket Matter supports 5-10 templates depending on tier. We extract template content and field mappings for translation to the destination system's template format.

Prebuilt reports include Productivity per User, Origination, and Matter Budget reports. Custom report definitions are not exported via API. We migrate report data snapshots and provide a reference list of the standard reports for manual recreation.
